Summer Skin Protection For Your Family

Baby Girl In Summer Dress Sitting In Field Wearing SunglassesAs a parent, protecting our kids is our number one job. With summer right around the corner, protection from the sun is critical for you and your children. The article below is important when considering skin protection for both you and the little ones in your life.

Regardless of your age or your skin type, you NEED to be wearing sunscreen. All the time. No exceptions. Skin care experts say that not wearing sunscreen will create wrinkles, fine lines, sunspots and even skin cancer among other things. Why risk all of those things (and more) when that could simply be avoided by purchasing a few things that could save your life.

SUNGLASSES

One of my friends recently just told me that she had sun/UV damage to her eye. Not around her eye- her actual eye. How crazy is that? She says she purchased cheap sunglasses and didn’t wear them all the time. My friend now knows what mistakes she made. Invest in some cute, big sunnies to wear when driving and walking outside. The bigger, the better, and make sure the glasses are labeled with UV Protection.

SUNSCREEN

That’s a given. To be honest, I didn’t start wearing this constantly until about my early 20’s. Oops. So many sunscreens are available on the market right now with different UV protections, scents and more. For the little ones, use a spray sunscreen so you hit every spot on their body (and don’t take away their play time by rubbing in the lotion). Also, apply your sunscreen 20 minutes before sun exposure. That allows the sunscreen to set in, which is super important.

SUN HAT

Okay, okay, so maybe you do not want to wear a hat all the time. However, if you wear one more than you do now, your skin will thank you later. For the gents, a baseball cap is great to keep the sun away from delicate face skin. As for the ladies, invest in that adorable sun hat with the bow to keep your skin healthy. You can’t go wrong trying to look like Audrey Hepburn at the beach!
